REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922–1972.*

THE PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD, acting in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the Public Service Act 1922–1972, hereby makes, subject to the approval of the Governor-General, the following Regulations.

Amendments of the Public Service (Salaries) Regulations†

Certain officers of Third Division to be paid at rate applicable to officers of Fourth Division.

1. Regulation 7 of the Public Service (Salaries) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from the table to that regulation the words—

“Chief Technical Officer, Grade 1

Chief Technical Officer, Grade 2

Chief Technical Officer, Grade 3; and

(b) by omitting from that table the words—

“Principal Technical Officer, Grade 2”.

Minimum salaries payable to officers of Fourth Division—according to age.

2. Regulation 10 of the Public Service (Salaries) Regulations is amended by omitting Table B in sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

Salaries payable to officers of Fourth Division who are apprentices or trainees.

3. Regulation 11 of the Public Service (Salaries) Regulations is amended by omitting Item 2 in the Table in sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following item:—

“2. Technician-in-training (Electrical)	Less than two years........	1,867
Technician-in-training (Radio)	Not less than two years but less than three years	2,178
Technician-in-training (Telecommunications)	Not less than two years but less than three years	2,178
	Not less than three years but less than four years	3,272
	Four years or more.........	3,941”.

First Schedule.

4.—(1.) Part I. of the First Schedule to the Public Service (Salaries) Regulations is amended as set out in the First Schedule to these Regulations.

(2.) Part VI. of the First Schedule to the Public Service (Salaries) Regulations is amended by omitting from Group 1 the words “Trainee Air Traffic Controller” (in the first column).

(3.) Part VII. of the First Schedule to the Public Service (Salaries) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from Item 1 the words “Trainee Air Traffic Controller” (in the second column); and

(b) by inserting after Item 2 the following item:—

“2a. Trainee Air Traffic Controller	Under 18 years..	2,095
	18 years.......	2,444
	19 years.......	2,828
	20 years.......	3,177	”.

Third Schedule.

5.—(1.) Part I. of the Third Schedule to the Public Service (Salaries) Regulations is amended as set out in the Second Schedule to these Regulations.

(2.) Part II. of the Third Schedule to the Public Service (Salaries) Regulations is amended as set out in the Third Schedule to these Regulations.

(3.) Part IV. of the Third Schedule to the Public Service (Salaries) Regulations is amended as set out in the Fourth Schedule to these Regulations.

Amendments of the Fourth Schedule to the Public Service (Salaries) Regulations

1. Omit item 2, insert the following item:—

2 Airways Telecommunications Officer, Grade 1	Where—
	(a) he has passed an examination conducted by or on behalf of the Board for the purpose of this paragraph; and
	(b) he is in receipt of salary at a rate specified in the first column of the following table, he shall be paid an allowance at the rate specified in the second column of that table opposite to that rate in the first column.

7. Omit Item 26, insert the following item:—

	2. Subject to the next succeeding paragraph he shall be paid an allowance—
	(a) at the rate of 260 dollars in respect of each postgraduate nursing certificate of the College of Nursing, Australia or the New South Wales College of Nursing held by him if he performs duties of the kind to which the certificate relates, and
	(b) at the rate of 104 dollars in respect of each postgraduate nursing certificate (other than a certificate issued by a College referred to in the last preceding paragraph) recognized by the Board, having regard to the nature of the training in respect of which the certificate was issued, if he performs duties of the kind to which the certificate relates.
	3. The maximum rate at which an allowance is payable under the last preceding paragraph is 520 dollars per annum.

8. Omit Item 36, insert the following item:—

36 Senior Nurse (Male) Senior Sister..	1. He shall be paid an allowance at the rate of 440 dollars while in charge of three or more operating theatres.
	2. He shall be paid an allowance at the rate of 190 dollars while in charge of a ward provided with staff for 55 or more patients.
	3. He shall be paid an allowance at the rate of 440 dollars white in charge of the Central Sterilizing Department, Repatriation General Hospital, Concord or Heidelberg or Greenslopes.
	4. He. shall be paid an allowance at the rate of 285 dollars while employed as Evening Superintendent.
	5. He shall be paid an allowance at the rate of 440 dollars while employed as Night Superintendent.
	6. He shall be paid an allowance at the rate of 570 dollars while in charge of the Outpatients’ Clinic, Repatriation Department, at Sydney or Melbourne.
	7. Subject to the next succeeding paragraph he shall be’ paid an allowance—
	(a) at the rate of 260 dollars in respect of each postgraduate nursing certificate of the College of Nursing, Australia or the New South Wales College of Nursing held by him if he performs duties of the kind to which the certificate relates, and

(b) at the rate of 104 dollars in respect of each postgraduate nursing certificate (other than a certificate issued by a College referred to in the last preceding paragraph) recognized by the Board, having regard to the nature of the training in respect of which the certificate was issued, if he performs duties of the kind to which the certificate relates.

8. The maximum rate at which an allowance is payable under the last preceding paragraph is 520 dollars per annum.

9. He shall be paid an allowance at the rate of 285 dollars while occupying the position of Senior Sister in the Department of Social Services, Rehabilitation Centre, at Kingsholme, Queensland or St. Margarets, South Australia or Melville, Western Australia.

10. He shall be paid an allowance at the rate of 570 dollars while occupying the position of Senior Sister in the Department of Social Services, Rehabilitation Centre, at Maryport, Victoria.

11. He shall be paid an allowance at the rate of 1,000 dollars while occupying the position of Senior Sister in the Department of Social Services, Rehabilitation Centre, at Mt. Wilga, New South Wales.

12. He shall be paid an allowance at the rate of 570 dollars while in charge of both the Outpatients’ Clinic and Casualty at Darwin Hospital, Department of Health, Northern Territory.

9. Omit Item 45, insert the following item:—

45 Tutor Nurse (Male) Tutor Sister...................	1. Subject to the next succeeding paragraph he shall, if he does not possess either the Diploma in Nursing Education of the College of Nursing, Australia or the Sister Tutor Diploma of the New South Wales College of Nursing, be paid an allowance—
	(a) at the rate of 260 dollars in respect of each postgraduate nursing certificate of the College of Nursing, Australia or the New South Wales College of Nursing held by him if he performs duties of the kind to which the certificate relates; and.
	(b) at the rate of 104 dollars in respect of each postgraduate nursing certificate (other than a certificate issued by a College referred to in the last preceding paragraph) recognised by the Board, having regard to the nature of the training in respect of which the certificate was issued, if he performs duties of the kind to which the certificate relates.
	2. The maximum rate at which an allowance is payable under the last preceding paragraph is 520 dollars per annum.
