REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922-1960.*

THE PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD, acting in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the Public Service Act 1922-1960, hereby makes, subject to the approval of the Governor-General, the following Regulations.

AMENDMENTS OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE REGULATIONS.†

Commencement.

1. These regulations shall come into operation on the fifth day of October, 1961.

Salaries payable to Officers of the Second and Third Division

2. Regulation 104 of the Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation :—

"(1.) For the purposes of sub-section (2.) of section 30 of the Act, the rate of annual salary or the scale of rates of annual salary payable to a male officer who occupies an office in the Second Division or the Third Division is, subject to this regulation, that rate or scale of rates specified in Table A or Table B in this sub-regulation which is appropriate to that office having regard to its classification.

3. Regulation 106 of the Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting sub-regulation (2.);

(b) by omitting sub-regulation (5.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

"(5.) Where an officer who is of an age specified in the second column of the table in this sub-regulation occupies an office the designation of which is specified in the first column of that table the rate of annual salary payable to the officer is whichever of the rates, specified in the third column of that table opposite to the age of the officer, that is applicable to the officer.

Variations of Salaries.

4. Regulation 106A of the Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting sub-regulation (3.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

"(3.) The salary of an officer who has not attained the age of twenty years and

(a) is an officer referred to in sub-regulation (8.) of regulation 104 of these Regulations; or

(b) occupies an office of Seaman (Ordinary),

shall be increased as if that officer had attained the age of twenty years.";

(b) by omitting the table from sub-regulation (4.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—
