REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922-1960.*
THE PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD, acting in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the Public Service Act 1922-1960, hereby makes, subject to the approval of the Governor-General, the following Regulations.

AMENDMENTS OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE REGULATIONS. †
Allowances in addition to salary.
1. Regulation 105 of the Public Service Regulations is amended—
(a) by inserting before sub-regulation (2.) the following sub-regulation:—
"(1.) An officer who occupies an office of Medical Officer, Grade 1, Third Division, Repatriation Department, and whose rate of salary does not exceed £3,025 per annum may be paid an allowance at the rate of £143 per annum if, after he has been appointed, transferred or promoted to that office, he successfully completes a post-graduate course recognized by the Board for the purpose of this sub-regulation."; and
(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the figures "£38" and inserting in their stead the figures "£42".

Salaries payable to officers of the Fourth Division.
2. Regulation 106 of the Public Service Regulations is amended—
(a) by omitting from item 3 in the table in sub-regulation (4.)
the words "Examiner (Female), Grade 1;"; and
(b) by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:—
"(15.) An officer who is employed at the Government Printing Office, Canberra, and occupies an office of Bookbinder, Compositor, Cutter, Finisher, Letterpress Machinist, Linotype Mechanic, Linotype Operator, Lithographic Machinist, Machinist (Binding), Monotype Caster, Monotype Operator, Photo-engraving Operator, Photolithographic Operator, Pressman, Reader, Ruler or Stereotyper may be paid an allowance at such rate as the Board from time to time determines to be the rate payable to an officer occupying such an office.".

4. The First Schedule to the Public Service Regulations is amended by inserting after designation number 712 the following designation number and particulars:—

Second Schedule.
5. The Second Schedule to the Public Service Regulations is amended—
(a) by omitting items 10 and 13;
(b) by omitting from items 2, 4, 11, 19, 22 and 39 the figures "19s." and inserting in their stead the figures "£1 1s."; and
(c) by inserting after items 9 and 18 the following items, respectively:—
"9A. Letterpress Machinist, Printing Branch, Department of the Treasury | 1. He shall be paid an allowance at the rate of £1 1s. per week while in charge of two or more journeymen.'', and |
"18A .Photo-engraving Operator, Printing Branch, Department of the Treasury | 1. He shall be paid an allowance at the rate of £1 1s. per week while in charge of two or more journeymen." |

Authority for payment of allowances.
6. The Public Service Board may authorize the payment of an allowance, in respect of the period that commenced on the second day of May, 1963, and ended on the day immediately before the commencement of these Regulations, to each officer and employee of such an amount as would result in the total remuneration of the officer or employee being not less than the total remuneration that would have been payable to the officer or employee in respect of that period if the amendments made by these Regulations had taken effect on the second day of May, 1963.
