REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922-1968.*
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, and on the recommendation of—
(a) the Chairman of Committees of the Senate, being the person who, by virtue of section 5 of the Parliamentary Presiding Officers Act 1965, is to be deemed, by reason of the absence from the Commonwealth of the President of the Senate, to be the President of the Senate for the purposes of the exercise of any powers or functions by the President under the laws of the Commonwealth; and
(b) the Speaker of the House of Representatives,
hereby make the following Regulations under the Public Service Act 1922-1968.

Amendment of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations†
Salaries payable to officers of Second and Third Divisions.
1. Regulation 71 of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended—
(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the figures “9,500” and inserting in their stead the figures “11,250”; and
(b) by omitting from that sub-regulation the figures “10,500” and inserting in their stead the figures “12,430”.
Allowance for period before commencement of Regulations.
2. The Parliamentary Head may authorize the payment to an officer who during the period from and including the twenty-second day of September, 1969, to and including the day immediately before the commencement of these Regulations or during a part of that period, occupied an office in the Second Division in respect of which the rate of annual salary was $9,500 or $10,500 of an allowance of such an amount as would result in the total remuneration of the officer being not less than the total remuneration that would have been payable to the officer in respect of that period or the part of that period if the rate of annual salary in respect of the office had, from and including the twenty-second day of September, 1969, been $11,250 or $12,430, respectively.
