Statutory Rules 1964, No. 42.(b)
Salaries payable to officers of the Second and Third Divisions.
1. Regulation 71 of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulations (1.) and (1a.) and inserting in their stead the following sub-regulation:—
(b) Made under the Public Service Act 1922-1964 on 12 March, 1964; notified in the Commonwealth Gazette on 19 March, 1964.
“(1.) For the purposes of sub-section (2.) of section 30 of the Act, the rate of annual salary or the scale of rates of annual salary payable to a male officer who occupies an office in the Second Division or the Third Division is, subject to this regulation, that rate or scale of rates specified in the table in this sub-regulation which is appropriate to that office having regard to its classification.

Authority for payment of allowances.
2. The Parliamentary Head may authorize the payment of an allowance, in respect of the period that commenced on the twenty-third day of December, 1963, and ended on the day immediately before the commencement of these Regulations, to the officers who occupied during that period the office of Clerk-Assistant in the Department of the Senate and the office of Clerk-Assistant in the Department of the House of Representatives, respectively, of such an amount as would result in the total remuneration of each such officer being not less than the total remuneration that would have been payable to him in respect of that period if the amendments made by these Regulations had taken effect on the twenty-third day of December, 1963.
