Primary Industries Levies and Charges Collection (Buffalo, Cattle and Live-stock) Regulations 1998 (Amendment)
The purpose of the regulations is to amend the Primary Industries Levies and Charges Collection (Buffalo, Cattle and Live-stock) Regulations 1998 to make it clear that the carcase sale price for sheep and lambs includes the recovery value of the skin, fleece, offal and other by-products. A transaction levy is calculated on this price.
The amendment is supported by the Sheepmeat Council of Australia, the peak industry body representing sheepmeat producers who pay the levy in question. It is also supported by the peak industry councils representing livestock agents and meat processors, being those who collect the levy for the Commonwealth.
Details of the regulations are as follows:
1. Commencement
Regulation 1 provides that the Regulations will commence on gazettal.
2. Amendment
Regulation 2 provides that the Primary Industries Levies and Charges Collection (Buffalo, Cattle and Live-stock) Regulations 1998 be amended by these proposed Regulations.
3. Regulation 50 (Rates of transaction levy and NRS transaction levy-sheep)
Regulation 3 provides for a definition of hot carcase weight sale price.
4. Regulation 51 (Rates of transaction levy and NRS transaction levy-lambs)
Regulation 4 provides for a definition of hot carcase weight sale price.
