EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

 

 

Primary Industries (Excise) Levies (Forest Growers) Designated Bodies Declaration 2007

 

 

Schedule 27 of the Primary Industries (Excise) Levies Act 1999 (Excise Act) provides for the declaration of designated bodies as representatives of the Australian Forest Industry.  It is a requirement of the Act that the Minister needs to consult with designated industry bodies before proposed increases to levies are presented to the Governor-General.

 

The companies declared as the designated bodies are: Australian Forest Growers (ABN 39 000 694 904), Australian Plantation Products and Paper Industry Council (ABN 40 005 904 898), Australian Timber Importers Federation (ABN 77 498 242 560) and National Association of Forest Industries (ABN 40 008 621 510). 

 

Declaration of the designated bodies under Schedule 27 of the Excise Act is a disallowable instrument for the purposes of Section 46A of the Acts Interpretation Act 1901.

 

This declaration was made on 20 September 2007 in time for them to become the designated bodies on 1 October 2007.
