Poultry Industry Assistance Amendment Act (No. 2) 1979

An Act to amend the Poultry Industry Assistance Act 1965.
BE IT ENACTED by the Queen, and the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:
Short title, &c.
1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Poultry Industry Assistance Amendment Act (No. 2) 1979.
(2) The Poultry Industry Assistance Act 1965 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.
Commencement
2. This Act shall come into operation on 1 July 1979.
Interpretation
3. Section 3 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after the definition of “research” the following definition:
“‘State’ includes the Northern Territory;”.
Application of Fund
4. Section 6 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting “section 6a or 6b” and substituting “section 6a, 6aa or 6b”.
5. After section 6a of the Principal Act the following section is inserted:
Financial assistance in A.C.T.
“6aa. (1) The Minister may from time to time approve the making of payments out of moneys standing to the credit of the Fund for the assistance of the poultry industry in the Australian Capital Territory.
“(2) Payments under sub-section (1) shall be in such amount or amounts as the Minister determines after taking into account any recommendations made to him by the Council.”.
