REGULATIONS UNDER THE PAPUA AND NEW GUINEA ACT 1949-1960.*
I, THE ADMINISTRATOR of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Papua and New Guinea Act 1949-1960.

PAPUA AND NEW GUINEA ADMINISTRATOR’S COUNCIL (FEES, ALLOWANCES AND EXPENSES) REGULATIONS.
Citation.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Papua and New Guinea Administrator’s Council (Fees, Allowances and Expenses) Regulations.
Commencement.
2. These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation on the tenth day of April, 1961.
Definitions.
3. In these Regulations—
“member of the Administrator’s Council” means a member of the Administrator’s Council other than the Administrator or a member who is employed in the Public Service;
“the Administrator’s Council” means the Administrator’s Council for the Territory of Papua and New Guinea constituted in accordance with Division 2 of Part IV. of the Papua and New Guinea Act 1949-1960.
Sitting fees of members.
4.—(1.) Subject to the next succeeding sub-regulation, a member of the Administrator’s Council shall receive a sitting fee of Ten pounds ten shillings—
(a) in respect of each day on which the member attends a meeting, or attends to business, of the Administrator’s Council; and
(b) in respect of each other day, not being a Sunday, during which, or during any part of which, the member is absent from his home for the purpose of attending a meeting, or for the purpose of attending to business, of the Administrator’s Council on a day referred to in the last preceding paragraph.

(2.) A member of the Administrator’s Council shall not be entitled to receive a sitting fee under the last preceding sub-regulation in respect of a day in respect of which he is entitled to receive a sitting fee by virtue of his membership of the Legislative Council.
Travelling allowances of members.
5.—(1.) Subject to the next succeeding sub-regulation, where a member of the Administrator’s Council is absent from his home overnight for the purpose of attending a meeting, or for the purpose of attending to business, of the Administrator’s Council, the member shall receive as travelling allowance—
(a) an amount equal to the expenses of the member’s lodging and subsistence while he is so absent from his home; and
(b) an allowance of One pound for each day or part of a day during which the member is so absent from his home.
(2.) A member of the Administrator’s Council shall not be entitled to receive travelling allowance under the last preceding sub-regulation in respect of any absence or part of an absence in respect of which he is entitled to receive travelling allowance by virtue of his membership of the Legislative Council.
Fares of members.
6.—(1.) Subject to the next succeeding sub-regulation, where a member of the Administrator’s Council, for the purpose of attending a meeting, or for the purpose of attending to business, of the Administrator’s Council, makes a journey requiring the payment of a fare, the member shall, if the amount of the fare is not paid on his behalf by the Administration, receive an amount equal to that amount.
(2.) A member of the Administrator’s Council shall not be entitled to receive an amount under the last preceding sub-regulation in respect of the payment of a fare in respect of which he is entitled to receive re-imbursement by virtue of his membership of the Legislative Council.
