REGULATIONS UNDER THE OVERSEAS TELECOMMUNICATIONS ACT 1946.*
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Overseas Telecommunications Act 1946.

Amendments of the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (Staff) Regulations.†
Definitions.
1. Regulation 4 of the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (Staff) Regulations is amended by inserting in the definition of “Senior Executive Officer” after the words “(d) the Chief Engineer;” the words “(da) the Chief Accountant;”.
Entrance examinations.
2. Regulation 6 of the Overseas Telecommunications (Staff) Regulations is amended—
(a) by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (1.) the words “, a language other than English,”; and
(b) by omitting sub-regulation (2.).
3. Regulation 7 of the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (Staff) Regulations is repealed and the following regulation is inserted in its stead:—
Particulars to be supplied by candidates for examination.
“7.—(1.) A candidate for an examination for appointment to the service of the Commission shall furnish to the Commission, or to such person as the Commission directs, an application in his own handwriting in accordance with such form as is approved by the Commission, together with such evidence of his age as the Commission requires and a certificate as to his good character and industrious habits by his present or past employer, a minister of religion, a school teacher, a justice of the peace or such other person as the Commission approves.
(2.) A person who fails to comply with the last preceding sub-regulation shall not be entitled to present himself for examination.”.

Appointments of persons from outside the Commission’s service.
4. Regulation 13 of the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (Staff) Regulations is amended by omitting the words “regulation 12” and inserting in their stead the words “regulation 11”.
Appeals against provisional promotions.
5. Regulation 17 of the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (Staff) Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words “advice of the provisional promotion” and inserting in their stead the words “staff circular in which the provisional promotion is notified”.
Appeals against punishments.
6. Regulation 35 of the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (Staff) Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the figures “22” and inserting in their stead the figures “30”.
