The Governor-General is pleased to announce the following honorary appointments within the Military Division of the Order of Australia:

 

 

ORDER OF AUSTRALIA

 

 

Honorary Officer (AO) in the Military Division

 

Admiral Harry B HARRIS Jr, United States of America

For distinguished service to the military relationship between Australia and the United States through leadership, passion and strategic foresight and in recognition of his efforts to enhance the close and longstanding defence relationship between the United States and Australia.

 

Lieutenant-General Perry LIM, Singapore

For distinguished service to the military relationship between Australia and Singapore through leadership, passion and strategic foresight and in recognition of his efforts to enhance the close and longstanding defence relationship between Singapore and Australia.

APPOINTED AN HONORARY OFFICER (AO)

 

IN THE MILITARY DIVISION OF THE ORDER OF AUSTRALIA

 

 

Admiral Harry B HARRIS Jr, United States of America

For distinguished service to the military relationship between Australia and the United States through leadership, passion and strategic foresight and in recognition of his efforts to enhance the close and longstanding defence relationship between the United States and Australia.

 

Admiral Harris has actively engaged both United States and Australian political and military leaders to promote and facilitate the ongoing success and progress of the Australia-United States Alliance.  As the Commander of the United States Pacific Command he has positioned both nations to better respond to regional crises and contingencies, including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions.  Admiral Harris has been a very close friend of Australia and a strong commander for the United States in the Pacific.

 

 

 

 

Lieutenant-General Perry LIM, Singapore

For distinguished service to the military relationship between Australia and Singapore through leadership, passion and strategic foresight and in recognition of his efforts to enhance the close and longstanding defence relationship between Singapore and Australia.

 

Lieutenant-General Lim made significant and highly valued contribution to the defence relationship between the Singapore Armed Forces and Australian Defence Force by actively fostering new strategic opportunities for our nations to work together across training areas, personnel exchanges and science and technology collaboration. His leadership and direction has resulted in unprecedented levels of interoperability and supported a shared contribution by Singapore and Australia to broader regional security and stability.
