APPOINTED AN HONORARY OFFICER (AO)

 

IN THE MILITARY DIVISION OF THE ORDER OF AUSTRALIA

 

 

ADMIRAL ROBERT PETER BURKE United Sates Navy

For distinguished service in strengthening the military alliance between Australia and the United States of America.

 

Admiral Burke has been an advocate of the deepening relationship between the United States and Royal Australian Navies. A champion for closer cooperation, he has been instrumental in delivering outcomes vital for Australia to realise its vision to recapitalise and perpetuate its naval forces. He campaigned to fully open the delivery of Aegis combat management system training to Australian personnel and enabled access to essential doctrine and information to ensure Australia could properly operate and utilise the full capabilities of the new Air Warfare Destroyers.
