NTC-30482 – EXEMPTION FROM DISPLAYING AN AVIATION SECURITY IDENTIFICATION CARD IN A SECURE AREA

I am a Delegate of the Secretary of the Department of Home Affairs. Under subregulation 3.08(3) of the Aviation Transport Security Regulations 2005 (the Regulations), I:

GIVE all registered participants of “Operation Sully” (Aerodrome Emergency Exercise), an exemption from displaying an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) in the secure area of Brisbane Airport when in the airside area moving along the designated transit route between Gate 12 and the special event zone (SEZ) established in notice NTC-30481.

This exemption is subject to the following conditions:

  1.        All participants will be pre-registered with Brisbane Airport Corporation Pty Limited (BAC) Security and Emergency Management team.

  1.        Government-issued identification for all participants will be reconciled against an approved Aerodrome Emergency Exercise attendance list prior to boarding a vehicle at Gate 12.

  1.        The movement of participants between Gate 12 and the SEZ will be by vehicle (either an emergency services vehicle or a BAC-operated bus) along the designated transit route identified on the map which forms part of notice NTC-30481.

  1.        Participants are not permitted to exit their assigned vehicle while transiting airside.

  1.        Each vehicle will be continuously escorted within the airside area by an Airside Safety Officer until entry into the established SEZ. The same arrangements will apply for the return transit, with vehicles escorted back to Gate 12 for exit to the landside area upon completion of the exercise.

This exemption is in force from 0900 hours to 1600 hours on 13 May 2026.

Yours sincerely
