Notice of Declaration of Security Regulated Port – Port of Yampi Sound – Koolan Island

Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003

I, STEVEN ROWSON, Regional Director, Transport Security Operations, Office of Transport Security, under subsection 13(1) of the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003 (the Act):

REVOKE the declaration of the security regulated port of Port of Koolan Island published in the Gazette (No. GN/S 85, 07 May 2007); and

DECLARE that the area of the port of Port of Yampi Sound – Koolan Island intended for use either wholly or partly in connection with the movement, loading, unloading, maintenance or provisioning of security regulated ships, the boundaries of which are shown on the attached map and descriptions, to be a security regulated port.

This Notice commences upon publication in the Gazette.

SECURITY REGULATED PORT BOUNDARY DESCRIPTION

Description of Port of Yam pi Sound - Koolan Island

State; Western Australia

Map Number: 70437

• The Security Regulated Port of Yampi Sound (Koolan Island) is all of that area of land and water contained within and bounded by a line commencing at a point on the high water mark of Southern coastline of Koolan Island closest to latitude 162 07' 09.00" south, longitude 1232 42' 30.00" east;
• thence generally south-easterly along the high water mark for a distance of approximately 7 kilometres to its intersection with the Koolan Island jetty abutment closest to latitude 162 08' 51.64" south, longitude 1232 44' 57.91" east;
• thence continues north along the western side of the CV#07 conveyor until it meets the western side of the Koolan Island Port Security gate at the top of The Causeway road closest to latitude 162 07' 33.59" south, longitude 1232 45' 2.47" east;
• thence crossing the Causeway Road to the Port Security gate on its Eastern edge. Latitude 16" 8' 33.86" south, Longitude 123" 45' 3.57" east;
• thence continues down the eastern side of the Causeway Road until it reaches the western back edge of the Logistics lay down area. Latitude 16" 8' 47.27" south, Longitude 123" 45' 0.02" east;
• thence continues east along the back edge of the Logistics lay down area to its low water mark on its northeast edge. Latitude 16" 8' 48.36" south, Longitude 123" 45' 4.69" east;
• thence continues south along the Logistics' laydown area until it reached the top of the Logistics' laydown area embankment on its northeast edge. Latitude 16" 8' 48.81" south, Longitude 123" 45' 4.57" east;
• thence generally south-easterly along the high water mark for a distance of approximately 3 kilometres to its intersection with the meridian of Latitude 16" -09' 33.00" south, Longitude 123" 45' 57.00" east;
• thence south along that meridian to its intersection with the high water mark of the coastline of the State of Western Australia closest to latitude 162 10' 00.00" south, longitude 123Q 45' 57.00" east;
• thence generally north-westerly along that high water mark for a distance of approximately 15 kilometres to a point near Nares Point closest to latitude 162 07' 45.50' south, longitude 123Q 42' 10.00" east;
• thence north-north-easterly for a distance of approximately 1.3 kilometres across the water body known as The Canal to the point of commencement.

Notes:

1. The 'high water mark' referred to in the Port Description and associated maps means the line of 'mean high water springs".

2. Unless otherwise stated, all coordinates are in reference to the WGS 84 geodetic datum.

3. In the event that a point of latitude and longitude which is stated to lie on the high-water mark is found to lie on the landward or seaward side of the high water mark the point is to be regarded as being the point on the high water mark closest to that point of latitude and longitude.

4. Unless otherwise stated, the Security Regulated Port described above includes all water and land inside the area and excludes all private and recreational wharves, jetties and marinas.

5. Unless otherwise stated the lines between coordinates are geodesic lines.

6. The description should be read in conjunction with the Security Regulated Port Boundary map. In The event of an inconsistency between the written description and the map, the former prevails.
