NOTICE OF APPLICATION RECEIVED UNDER THE HAZARDOUS WASTE (REGULATION OF EXPORTS AND IMPORTS) ACT 1989

Pursuant to Section 33 of the Hazardous Waste (Regulation of Exports and Imports) Act 1989, notice is given that an application has been received from Metalman NZ Limited, 1 Rangi Road, Auckland, New Zealand to transit hazardous waste through Australia. The application relates to the movement of up to 10 000 tonnes of used lead acid batteries from the facility in New Zealand to Energy Networks Limited, 642-10 Sinpyeong-dong, Saha-gu, Busan in the Republic of Korea. The hazardous waste is destined for recovery operation
R4 – Recycling/reclamation of metals and metal compounds.

The transboundary movements would take place in up to forty-eight (48) shipments over twelve (12) months commencing from the date of the permit, if granted.

The movements will transit the ports of Melbourne and Sydney in Australia, Singapore and Port Kelang in Malaysia on their voyage to the port of Busan in the Republic of Korea.
