NOTICE OF APPLICATION RECEIVED UNDER THE HAZARDOUS WASTE (REGULATION OF EXPORTS AND IMPORTS) ACT 1989
Pursuant to section 33 of the Hazardous Waste (Regulation of Exports and Imports) Act 1989, notice is given that application AUH16-028 has been received from Daniels Health Services Pty Ltd, 34 Cahill Street, Dandenong, Victoria, 3175, Telephone: +61 3 8762 8324, Facsimile: +61 3 9797 5633.
The application relates to the import of up to 150 tonnes of clinical waste (Basel code: A4020) from Waste Management NZ Limited – Technical Services, 30 Neales Road, East Tamaki, Auckland 2161, New Zealand. The waste is destined for disposal by high temperature incineration (disposal operation: D10 – Incineration on land) at Daniels Health Services Pty Ltd disposal facility at Laverton North in Victoria.
The waste is to be transported by sea from New Zealand and would take place in up to twenty (20) shipments over a period of up to twelve months.
Written comments on the permit application may be lodged with the Department within 28 days of publication of this notice. Comments should be addressed to the Director, Hazardous Waste Section, Department of the Environment, GPO Box 787 CANBERRA ACT 2601, or forwarded by email to hwa@environment.gov.au. Respondents should be aware that comments will be shared with the applicant and should not contain commercial-in-confidence information.
