NOTICE OF APPLICATION RECEIVED UNDER THE
HAZARDOUS WASTE (REGULATION OF EXPORTS AND IMPORTS) ACT 1989

Pursuant to section 33 of the Hazardous Waste (Regulation of Exports and Imports) Act 1989, notice is given that Alcoa Portland Aluminium Pty Ltd, Quarry Road, Portland, Victoria 3305 has submitted an application to vary a special permit granted on 22 February 2013, and notice of which was published in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette (GN No. 9) on 6 March 2013.

The permit relates to the export of up to 12,000 tonnes of spent pot liner (Basel Code: A4050) to JBM International Ltd, Kingsilver Refinery, Hixon, Staffordshire, in the United Kingdom for recycling/reclamation of other inorganic materials.

The application, as varied, proposes to extend the movement of waste for a further period until 31 December 2014, conditional upon consent from transit countries.
