EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

Northern Territory National Emergency Response (Town Camps) Amendment Declaration 2007 (No. 1)

Summary

The Northern Territory National Emergency Response (Town Camps) Declaration 2007 (No. 2) (the Principal Declaration) provided for 2 specified town camps to be prescribed areas for the purposes of section 4 of the Northern Territory National Emergency Response Act 2007 ( the Emergency Response Act).

The Northern Territory National Emergency Response (Town Camps) Amendment Declaration 2007 (No. 1) (the Amendment Declaration) makes a minor technical amendment to correct a minor drafting error in the Principal Declaration at column 4 of item 1 in the Schedule by omitting “Lot 8106 plan S901068” and substituting the correct reference “Lot 8101 plan S901068”.

Explanation of the provisions

Section 1 of the Amending Declaration provides that it is called the Northern Territory National Emergency Response (Town Camps) Amendment Declaration 2007 (No. 1).

Section 2 provides that the Amendment Declaration commences on the day after it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments.

Section 3 provides that Schedule 1 of the Amendment Declaration amends the Principal Declaration.

Item 1 of Schedule 1 of the Amendment Declaration omits column 4 of item 1 of the Principal Declaration and substitutes, “Lot 8101 plan S901068”.

Consultation

No consultation was necessary because the Amendment Declaration makes a minor technical correction only.
