Navigation (Orders) Regulations (Amendment) 1990 No. 107

Paragraph 425 (1)(faa) of the Navigation Act 1912 (the Act) provides that the Governor-General may make regulations empowering the Minister to make orders in relation to crew accommodation.

A Marine Order entitled Marine Orders, Part 14 (Accommodation) is to be made to come into operation on 1 June 1990, replacing three sets of outdated regulations under the Act dealing with accommodation on ships.

It is necessary to amend the Navigation (Orders) Regulations to insert an appropriate head of power to allow the making of the Order.

The Statutory Rules amend regulation 3 of the Regulations to include reference to Division 15 of Part II of the Act, so establishing the head of power for the making of the Order.
