1925. No. 86.

REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVIGATION ACT 1912-1920.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Navigation Act 1912-1920, to come into operation forthwith.

Amendment of Navigation (Life Saving and Fire Appliances) Regulations.

(Statutory Rules 1925, No. 50.)

1. The Navigation (Life Saving and Fire Appliances) Regulations are amended by inserting after regulation 97 the following regulation:—

“97a.—In special cases, where the Director is satisfied that in relation to a ship of less than 100 tons gross register strict compliance with the requirements of any provision contained in Part III. of these Regulations is impracticable or, under the circumstances, unnecessary, he may in his discretion exempt the ship from compliance therewith, either unconditionally or subject to such conditions as he may specify.”

2. The Navigation (Life Saving and Fire Appliances) Regulations are amended by inserting after regulation 103 the following regulation:—

103a.—In special cases, where the Director is satisfied that in relation to a ship of less than 100 tons gross register strict compliance with the requirements of any provision contained in this Part of these Regulations is impracticable or, under the circumstances, unnecessary, he may in his discretion exempt the ship from compliance therewith, either unconditionally or subject to such conditions as he may specify.”
