REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVIGATION ACT 1912-1935.*
I, THE ADMINISTRATOR of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Navigation Act 1912-1935.

Amendments of the Navigation (Examination of Masters and Mates) Regulations.†
Service found to be insufficient.
1. Regulation 15 of the Navigation (Examination of Masters and Mates) Regulations is amended—
(a) by inserting in sub-regulation (2.) after the word “shall” the words “, subject to the next succeeding sub-regulation,”; and
(b) by adding at the end of sub-regulation (4.) the words “, and until he has repaid any amount returned to him under that sub-regulation.”.

2. Regulation 51 of the Navigation (Examination of Masters and Mates) Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (2.) the words “and the Allied Signal Manual”.

3. Regulation 54 of the Navigation (Examination of Masters and Mates) Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (2.) the words “and the Allied Signal Manual”.

4. Regulation 106 of the Navigation (Examination of Masters and Mates) Regulations is amended by omitting paragraph (e) and inserting in its stead the following paragraph:—
“(e) to possess a good working knowledge of the International Code of Signals and to be able to attain a minimum speed of eight words a minute in semaphore and six words a minute in Morse flashing.”.

5. Regulation 125 of the Navigation (Examination of Masters and Mates) Regulations is amended—
(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words “the Examiner or”; and
(b) by adding at the end of sub-regulation (1.) the words “for a reasonable proportion of time each day throughout the voyage”.
