REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVIGATION ACT 1912-1970.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Navigation Act 1912-1970.

Amendments of the Navigation (Construction) Regulations

Repeal.

1. Regulation 3 of the Navigation (Construction) Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the word “sub-regulation (3.) and inserting in its stead the word sub-regulation (2.).

Requirements with respect to doors in structural bulkheads.

2. Regulation 269a of the Navigation (Construction) Regulations is amended—

(a) by inserting in sub-regulation (1.), before the word door, the word sliding; and

(b) by omitting sub-regulation (2.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

(2.) A sliding door that is fitted to an opening in a structural bulkhead in a cargo ship shall be fitted with gears on each side of the opening and in an accessible position above the bulkhead deck, being gears each of which is capable of being operated by hand and of opening and closing the door..
