REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVIGATION ACT 1912*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Navigation Act 1912.

AMENDMENTS OF THE NAVIGATION (COLLISION) REGULATIONS†

Schedule 2

1. (1) Schedule 2 to the Navigation (Collision) Regulations is amended by omitting all words from and including “ OFF CAPE FINISTERRE ” to but not including “ OFF CAPE ROCA ”.

(2) Schedule 2 to the Navigation (Collision) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting—

“ (1) 43°30΄.2N., 69°59΄.4W.”

from Part I of the description of the traffic separation scheme following the heading “ IN THE APPROACHES TO PORTLAND, MAINE ” and substituting—

“ (1) 43°30΄.15N., 69°58΄.9W.”;

(b) by omitting—

“ (3) 43°26΄.8N., 70°03΄.5 W.”

from Part II of the description of the traffic separation scheme following the heading “ IN THE APPROACHES TO PORTLAND, MAINE ” and substituting—

“ (3) 43°26΄.8N., 70°03΄.4W.”;

(c) by omitting “ two miles ” (wherever occurring) from the description of the traffic separation scheme following the heading “ IN THE APPROACHES TO PORTLAND, MAINE ” and substituting “ one-and-a-half miles ”;

(d) by omitting—

“ (2) 36°56΄.5 N., 75°56΄.3 W.”

from Part I of the description of the traffic separation scheme following the heading “ IN THE APPROACHES TO CHESAPEAKE BAY ” and substituting—

“ (2) 36°56΄.8 N., 75°55΄.1 W.”;

(e) by omitting—

“ (4) 36°55΄.5 N., 75°56΄.6 W.”

from Part II of the description of the traffic separation scheme following the heading “ IN THE APPROACHES TO CHESAPEAKE BAY ” and substituting—

“ (4) 36°54΄.8 N., 75°55΄.6 W.”; and

(f) by adding at the end of the description of the traffic separation scheme following the heading “ IN THE APPROACHES TO CHESAPEAKE BAY ”—

Note: Precautionary area. A precautionary area of radius two miles is centred upon geographical position 36°56΄.1 N, 75°57΄.5 W.”.

Commencement

2. The amendments effected by sub-regulation 1 (2) shall come into operation on 1 January 1978.
