INTERIM DETERMINATION UNDER THE DEFENCE AMENDMENT ACT 19791
I, the Minister of State for Defence, hereby make the following Interim Determination under section 12 of the Defence Amendment Act 1979.

Amendments of the Naval Financial Regulations2
Transport allowance
1. Regulation 196A of the Naval Financial Regulations is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:
“(12) This regulation shall not have effect while Determination 0404, Transport Allowance made under section 58B of the Defence Act 1903 is in force.”.
Aggregation of travel for purposes of regulations 196 and 196A
2. The Naval Financial Regulations are amended by repealing regulation 196B and substituting the following regulation:

“196B. In calculating an allowance under regulation 196 travel in respect of which an allowance has been paid under Determination 0404, Transport Allowance made under section 58B of the Defence Act 1903 shall be taken into account as if it were travel in respect of which an allowance has been paid under regulation 196.”.
Mileage allowance — travel on leave
3. Regulation 229 of the Naval Financial Regulations is amended by omitting “his own motor vehicle” and substituting “a motor vehicle owned or hired by him or lent to him”.
