EXPLANATORY STATEMENT
STATUTORY RULES 1984 NO. 335
ISSUED BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE MINISTER FOR DEFENCE
AMENDMENT OF THE NAVAL FINANCIAL REGULATIONS
Section 12 of the Defence Amendment Act 1979 allows the Minister to make interim determinations amending or repealing regulations. The Act also deems such interim determinations to be Statutory Rules.
Regulation 90A of the Naval Financial Regulations provides for the payment of an allowance in respect of the dependants of a member of the Navy where his salary is not payable during a period when he is absent from duty because of illness.
These Statutory Rules repeal regulation 90A as such a member is provided for in regulation 91 of the Naval Financial Regulations.
