EXPLANATORY STATEMENT
STATUTORY RULES 1984 NO. 332
ISSUED BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE MINISTER FOR DEFENCE
AMENDMENT OF THE NAVAL FINANCIAL REGULATIONS
Section 12 of the Defence Amendment Act 1979 allows the Minister to make interim determinations amending or repealing regulations. The Act also deems such interim determinations to be Statutory Rules.
Regulation 91 of the Naval Financial Regulations provides for payment of an allowance in respect of the dependants of a member of the Navy who is detained, imprisoned or confined in cells.
These Statutory Rules repeal regulation 91, which has been replaced by Determination 0806, Detained Member’s Dependant Allowance, made under section 58B of the Defence Act 1903, and make consequential amendments to regulation 129 and Schedule 3 of the Naval Financial Regulations.
These Statutory Rules also remove from Schedule 3 references to other regulations that have been repealed.
The date of effect is the date Determination 0806 is made.
