REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1952.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1952.

AMENDMENTS OF THE NAVAL ESTABLISHMENTS REGULATIONS.†

Rates of pay and increments

1.—(1.) Regulation 43 of the Naval Establishments Regulations is amended by omitting items 1 to 67 (inclusive) from the table in sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in their stead the following items:—

(2.) The respective limits of rates of annual salary specified in items 3 and 4 of the table in regulation 43 of the Naval Establishments Regulations as amended by the last preceding sub-regulation apply to and in relation to service in the designations opposite to which they are specified on and after the thirtieth day of April, 1963.

(3.) The respective rates of annual salary or the respective limits of rates of annual salary specified in items 1, 2, 5, 6, 13 to 19 (inclusive), 21 to 29 (inclusive), 32, 33, 34, 36, 37 and 38 of the table in regulation 43 of the Naval Establishments Regulations as amended by sub-regulation (1.) of this regulation apply to and in relation to service in the designations opposite to which they are specified on and after the second day of May, 1963.

Recording and payment of overtime.

2.—(1.) Regulation 46 of the Naval Establishments Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (13.) the symbol and figures “£2,228” and inserting in their stead the words “Two thousand four hundred and fifty pounds”.

(2.) The amendment of regulation 46 of the Naval Establishments Regulations effected by the last preceding sub-regulation applies in relation to overtime worked on or after the eleventh day of July, 1963.

Meal allowance.

3.—(1.) Regulation 47 of the Naval Establishments Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words “Nine shillings” and inserting in their stead the words “Ten shillings”.

(2.) The rate of meal allowance applicable under regulation 47 of the Naval Establishments Regulations during the period from and including the twenty-fifth day of June, 1963, to and including the day immediately preceding the commencement of these Regulations is increased by One shilling.

Sunday duty.

4.—(1.) Regulation 50 of the Naval Establishments Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the symbol and figures “£2,228” and inserting in their stead the words “Two thousand four hundred and fifty pounds”.

(2.) The amendment of regulation 50 of the Naval Establishments Regulations effected by the last preceding sub-regulation applies in relation to Sunday duty performed after the eleventh day of July, 1963.

Rates of travelling allowances.

5.—(1.) Regulation 75 of the Naval Establishments Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

(2.) For the purposes of payment of travelling allowance in respect of the period from and including the twenty-fifth day of June, 1963, to and including the day immediately preceding the commencement of these Regulations or in respect of any part of that period, the references in the table in sub-regulation (1.) of regulation 75 of the Naval Establishments Regulations as in force immediately before the commencement of these Regulations to “3 18 0”, “4 10 0”, “2 12 0” and “3 3 0” shall be read as references to “4 5 0”, “4 18 0”, “2 14 0” and “3 6 0”, respectively.

Allowances to officers working in defined districts.

6.—(1.) Regulation 76 of the Naval Establishments Regulations is amended by omitting the table in sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

(2.) An officer or employee who has been paid or is entitled to be paid an allowance under regulation 76 of the Naval Establishments Regulations in respect of the period from and including the twenty-fifth day of June, 1963, to and including the day immediately preceding the commencement

of these Regulations or in respect of any part of that period is, by virtue of this sub-regulation, entitled to be paid an additional allowance in respect of that period or that part of that period, as the case may be—

(a) if he was paid or is entitled to be paid at the rate of Two pounds twelve shillings per week—at the rate of Two shillings per week;

(b) if he was paid or is entitled to be paid at the rate of Eleven pounds per week—at the rate of One pound per week; or

(c) if he was paid or is entitled to be paid at the rate of Six pounds fifteen shillings per week—at the rate of Thirteen shillings per week.

Classes of travelling accommodation.

7. Regulation 83 of the Naval Establishments Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the symbol and figures “£1,028” and inserting in their stead the words “One thousand and seventy pounds”.
