REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE (TRANSITIONAL
PROVISIONS) ACT 1946-1947.*
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence (Transitional Provisions) Act 1946-1947.

AMENDMENTS OF THE NATIONAL SECURITY (STAFF OF WAR-TIME
AUTHORITIES) REGULATIONS. †
Salaries of officers.
1. Regulation 6 of the National Security (Staff of War-time Authorities) Regulations is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulations :—
" (4.) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-regulations (1.), (2.) and (3.) of this regulation, an officer who occupies an office specified in Table C in any Schedule to these Regulations and is a member of an organization registered under the Commonwealth Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1904-1947 or a returned soldier shall, on and from the first pay period commencing in May, 1947, be paid the minimum salary specified in that Table opposite to that office, or, where a maximum salary is also so specified, such higher salary (not exceeding that maximum salary) as the authority determines.
" (5.) Where, in any determination under the Arbitration (Public Service) Act 1920-1934, marginal increases have been granted to officers or any class of officers in the Commonwealth Public Service, an authority may, subject to this regulation, apply on and from the first pay period

commencing on or after the twenty-eighth day of August, 1947, such marginal increases to officers who are members of an organization registered under the Commonwealth Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1904-1947 or are returned soldiers.
" (6.) For the purposes of this regulation, ‘ returned soldier ' has the same meaning as in the Commonwealth Public Service Act 1922-1947.".
Rate of travelling allowance.
2. Regulation 16 of the National Security (Staff of War-time the Authorities) Regulations is amended by adding at the end thereof following sub-regulations : —
" (2.) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-regulation (1.) of this regulation, an officer who is a member of an organization registered under the Commonwealth Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1904-1947 or a returned soldier shall be paid travelling allowance at the rates set out in the Fourteenth Schedule to these Regulations :
Provided that such travelling allowance shall not be less than those prescribed in sub-regulation (1.) of this regulation.
" (3.) For the purposes of this regulation ‘ returned soldier ' has the same meaning as in the Commonwealth Public Service Act 1922-1947.".
