Furthermore, section 475 outlines the penalties for contravening a direction made under the Act, which can include fines of up to $66,600 for an individual or $333,000 for a body corporate. The Act also provides for civil penalty provisions under section 535, where a person can be subject to a civil penalty of up to $1,100,000 for an individual or $5,500,000 for a body corporate for each contravention of certain provisions, such as those related to the protection of threatened species or communities. In more serious cases, criminal penalties may apply, with maximum penalties of up to two years imprisonment for individuals and $110,000 for body corporates, as outlined in section 536.
