Section 19

APPROVAL OF AMENDMENT NO 7 TO THE NATIONAL CAPITAL PLAN

I, Brian Leslie Howe, the Minister of State for Housing, Local Government and Community Services, pursuant to Section 19 of the Australian Capital Territory (Planning and Land Management) Act 1988 APPROVE Amendment No 7 to the National Capital Plan set out in the attached Schedule.

AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY (PLANNING AND LAND MANAGEMENT) ACT 1988

AMENDMENT No 7 OF THE NATIONAL CAPITAL PLAN

Delete Policy 7.3(c) from page 49 of the National Capital Plan and substitute with:

“7.3(c) Buildings in Canberra Central should be of a height generally not greater than the height of the mature tree canopy (typically 3-4 storeys), with the exception of the buildings in the Parliamentary Zone, Civic Centre, Russell and Campbell Park, and on sites adjoining Northbourne Avenue and Constitution Avenue. In Canberra Central no building or structure which protrudes substantially above the tree canopy shall exceed a height of RL 617m.”
