EXPLANATORY STATEMENT
Migration Regulations 1994
POST OFFICE BOX AND COURIER ADDRESSES
(Paragraphs 1228(3)(a) and 1229(3)(c))
- This Instrument is made under paragraphs 1228(3)(a) and 1229(3)(c) of the Migration Regulations 1994 (“the Regulations”). The Instrument revokes Instrument IMMI 13/144, (F2013L02046), signed on 28 November 2013.
- The purpose of the Instrument is to specify a post office box address, and courier addresses, for the lodgement of applications for Temporary Graduate (Subclass 485) visas and Skilled – Recognised Graduate (Subclass 476) visas. It also removes references to Skilled Migration Visa Subclasses 175, 176, 475, 487, 885 and 886, as it is no longer possible to lodge applications for these visas.
3. The Instrument operates to specify a post office box address, and courier addresses, for lodgement of applications for Temporary Graduate (Subclass 485) visas and Skilled – Recognised Graduate (Subclass 476) visas.
4. Under subsection 18(1) of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003, consultation was not necessary. The Instrument is of a minor or machinery nature and does not substantially alter existing arrangements.
8. The Office of Best Practice Regulation has advised that a Regulatory Impact Statement is not required (OBPR Reference 16928).
9. Under section 44 of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003, the Instrument is exempt from disallowance and therefore a Statement of Compatibility with Human Rights is not required.
