EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

 

Migration Regulations 1994

 

  1. This Notice is made under Regulation 1.17 of the Migration Regulations 1994 (‘the Regulations’)

 

2.                  Item 1112(3)(a), Item 1113(3)(aa), Item 1115(3)(aa) and Item 1118(3)(a) of Schedule 1 of the Regulations provide that applications for Special Eligibility visas and Distinguished Talent visas must be lodged at an address specified in a Gazette Notice. 

 

3.                  The purpose of this Instrument is to specify the new postal and courier delivery addresses for lodgement of Special Eligibility visa applications and Distinguished Talent visa applications on and from 26 April 2005, when the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and Regions Office will move to a new location.  From that date, such applications must be posted to:

4.                  The instrument affects all applicants for Special Eligibility visas and Distinguished Talent visas on and from 26 April 2005.  Under Items 1112(3)(a), 1113(3)(aa), 1115(3)(aa) and 1118(3)(a) applications must be lodged at the addresses specified in this Gazette Notice. 


 

 

6. This Instrument does not have a direct, or a substantial indirect, effect on business or restrict competition (subsection 17(1) of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003 refers). As such, consultation was not undertaken.

 

7. The instrument commences on 26 April 2005.
