SPECIFICATION OF ETA-ELIGIBLE PASSPORTS

 

I, AMANDA VANSTONE, Minister for Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs, acting under regulations 1.17 and 1.11B of the Migration Regulations 1994 ("the Regulations"):

 

  1. REVOKE the Gazette Notice made for the purposes of regulation 1.11B signed on 10 June 2002;

 

2.                  SPECIFY for subregulation 1.11B(1) of the Regulations, each of the kinds of passport set out in column 2 in the Schedule as an ETA-eligible passport in relation to an application for a visa if the conditions (if any) set out in column 3 for passports of that kind are satisfied in relation to that application; and

 

3.                  SPECIFY for subregulation 1.11B(2) of the Regulations, each of the kinds of passport set out in column 2 in the schedule as an ETA-eligible passport in relation to each subclass of visa specified in column 4 in the schedule.

 

This notice has effect from 1 January 2004.

[NOTE 1: Subregulation 1.11B(1) provides that a passport is an ETA-eligible passport in relation to an application for a visa if it is a valid passport of a kind specified by Gazette Notice as an ETA-eligible passport and if the conditions (if any) specified by Gazette Notice for passports of that kind are satisfied in relation to that application.

NOTE 2: Subregulation 1.11B(2) provides that a passport is an ETA-eligible passport in relation to a visa of a particular Subclass if it is an ETA-eligible passport in accordance with subregulation (1) and it is specified by Gazette Notice to be an ETA-eligible passport for that Subclass.]
