EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

 

Migration Regulations 1994

 

SPECIFICATION OF ADDRESSES

(PARAGRAPH 1212B(3)(a))

  1. This Instrument is made under paragraph 1212B(3)(a) of Schedule 1 of the Migration Regulations 1994 (‘the Regulations’).
  2. Paragraph 1212B(3)(a) of Schedule 1 of the Regulations provides that applications for visa Class UY are to an address specified by the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship either by mail or by courier or hand delivery.
  3. The purpose of the Instrument is to specify the relevant addresses.
  4. The Instrument supports the centralised processing of all Investor Retirement visa applications lodged on or after 9 August 2008 at the Department’s office in Perth.  This will affect all applicants for the Investor Retirement visa from that date.
  5. Consultation is unnecessary as, under section 18(1) of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003, the Instrument is of a minor or machinery nature and does not substantially alter existing arrangements.
  6. The instrument IMMI 08/044 commences on 9 August 2008.
