Meritorious Service Awards Amendments 2021
It is notified for general information that Her Majesty The Queen has approved amendments to the Letters Patent and Regulations governing the following meritorious service awards in the Australian Honours System:
- Public Service Medal
- Australian Police Medal
- Australian Fire Service Medal
- Ambulance Service Medal
- Emergency Services Medal
- Australian Corrections Medal
- Australian Intelligence Medal
The amendments allow for recognition of Australians for outstanding achievements and contribution in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, without counting towards existing quotas.
The amendments also allow the Governor-General, on the advice of the Government, to determine the annual quotas for the meritorious service awards and any further periods of special recognition above the quotas for COVID-19 related service.
A copy of the Regulation amendments will be made available on the Governor-General’s website at www.gg.gov.au.
