EXPLANATORY STATEMENT
1. Authority for making the instrument. Membership of the Council Statute 2010, section 12.
2. Purpose and operation of the instrument. The Rules provide that for paragraph 10(1)(k) of the Act, and for Part 2 of the Membership of the Council Rules, a body mentioned in these Rules is to be regarded as a faculty or research school and, for that faculty or research school, the person holding the office related to that faculty or school is to be regarded as the dean or head of that faculty or research school.
3. Documents incorporated in the instrument by reference. None.
4. Consultation process. The Rules were made by the Council of the University at its meeting on 21 February 2014.
