REGULATIONS UNDER THE MATERNITY LEAVE (AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES) ACT 1973.*
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Maternity Leave (Australian Government Employees) Act 1973.

MATERNITY LEAVE (AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES) REGULATIONS
Citation.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Maternity Leave (Australian Government Employees) Regulations.
Commencement.
2. These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation on the date of commencement of the Act.
Definition.
3. In these Regulations, “the Act” means the Maternity Leave (Australian Government Employees) Act 1973.
Prescribed bodies corporate.
4. For the purposes of the definition of “prescribed authority” in section 3 of the Act, a body corporate specified in Schedule 1 is declared to be a body corporate in relation to which the Act applies.
Prescribed persons.
5. For the purposes of paragraph 5 (1) (b) of the Act—
(a) persons who hold office in, or are members, officers or employees of, a body corporate referred to in regulation 4; or
(b) persons employed by the Commonwealth who are specified in Schedule 2,
are prescribed persons.

3. Persons holding office in, or employed by, the Australian Services Canteens Organization Board of Management established by the Australian Services Canteens Organization Regulations.
4. Commonwealth Police Officers appointed under the Commonwealth Police Act 1957-1973.
5. The Chairman of the Australian Industrial Research and Development Grants Board established by the Industrial Research and Development Grants Act 1967-1973.
6. Persons employed in a civil capacity under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1973.
7. First Parliamentary Counsel and Second Parliamentary Counsel holding office under the Parliamentary Counsel Act 1970-1973.
8. Persons who constitute the Police Force of the Australian Capital Territory within the meaning of the Police Ordinance 1927-1972 of the Australian Capital Territory.
9. Persons who constitute the Northern Territory Police Force within the meaning of the Police and Police Offences Ordinance 1923-1973 of the Northern Territory of Australia.
10. Officers of the Public Service of the Northern Territory employed under the Public Service Ordinance 1928-1973 of the Northern Territory of Australia.
11. Commissioner of Trade Practices holding office under the Restrictive Trade Practices Act 1971-1973.
12. Officers appointed under the Trade Commissioners Act 1933-1973.
13. Persons employed at non-official post offices, including telephone office keepers, non-official post masters and non-official post mistresses, being persons who transact, during normal business hours, not less than 75,000 business units in a period of 12 months.
