LIVE-STOCK SLAUGHTER (EXPORT INSPECTION CHARGE) COLLECTION REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT)
The Live-stock Slaughter (Export Inspection Charge) Collection Act 1979 (the Act) provides for the Governor-General to make regulations for the purpose of collection of charges imposed by the Live-stock Slaughter (Export Inspection Charge) Act 1979.
Export markets have been established for deer meat and it has been decided to impose an inspection charge on deer slaughtered at registered establishments for export and on deer meat for which an export permit is applied for under the Export Control Act 1982.
To enable these charges to be collected it was necessary to delete specific references to horses, donkeys and mules slaughtered, in those parts of the regulations concerning the provision of returns and the keeping of records by the proprietor of an abattoir.
The opportunity was also taken to remove gender specific terminology in line with Government policy and to alter the reference to the Department of Primary Industry in the definition of “Secretary”.
