Broadcasting Services Act 1992

This compilation was prepared by the Australian Communications and Media Authority on 15 July 2013 taking into account amendments up to Licence Area Plan – Woollongong Radio – Variation No.1 of 2006.

 

 

LICENCE AREA PLAN - WOLLONGONG

DETERMINATION

(1)   The Australian Broadcasting Authority hereby makes this plan for broadcasting services in the Wollongong area of New South Wales, under subsection 26(1) of the Broadcasting Services Act 1992.

(2)   Five national radio broadcasting services are to be available in the area described at Attachment 1.1 to this Determination with the use of the broadcasting services bands. The characteristics, including technical specifications, of the national radio services that are to be available in the area described at Attachment 1.1 are set out in Schedule One and Attachments 1.2 - 1.6 and 1.13 – 1.14 to this Determination.

(3)   Two commercial radio broadcasting services are to be available in the area described at Attachment 1.1 to this Determination with the use of the broadcasting services bands. The characteristics, including technical specifications, of the services that are to be available in the area described at Attachment 1.1 are set out in Schedule One and Attachments 1.7 - 1.8 to this Determination.

(4)   Three open narrowcasting radio services are to be available in the area described at Attachment 1.1 to this Determination with the use of the broadcasting services bands. The characteristics, including technical specifications, of the services that are to be available in the area described at Attachment 1.1 are set out in Schedule One and Attachments 1.9 - 1.11 to this Determination.

(5)   One community radio broadcasting service is to be available in the area described at Attachment 1.1 to this Determination with the use of the broadcasting services bands.  The characteristics, including technical specifications, of the service that is to be available in the area described at Attachment 1.1 are set out in Schedule One and Attachment 1.12 to this Determination.

(6)   Two community radio broadcasting services are to be available in the area described at Attachment 2.1 to this Determination with the use of the broadcasting services bands.  The characteristics, including technical specifications, of the service that are to be available in the area described at Attachment 2.1 are set out in Schedule Two and Attachment 2.2 to 2.3 to this Determination.

(7)   A reference in this determination to a schedule or an attachment includes a reference to a schedule or attachment as amended from time to time

Special Conditions :-

The use of this channel depends upon measures being taken to ensure that unacceptable interference is not caused to reception of WIN3 Wollongong, NBN3 Newcastle, WIN3 Narooma and the Bombala 2KY HPON (90.9 MHz). WIN3 Wollongong will need to have ceased operating prior to the commencement of this service.  Until such measures are taken with respect to NBN3 Newcastle, the maximum ERP is not to exceed 100 W over the sectors 340T – 360T. Until such measures are taken with respect to WIN3 Narooma, the maximum ERP is not to exceed 100W over the sectors 190T – 220T.
