VARIATION

The Australian Broadcasting Authority hereby varies the licence area plan for radio broadcasting services in the Townsville area of Queensland, determined on 30 October 1997 under section 26(1) of the Broadcasting Services Act 1992.

The variation comprises a variation of the licence area of the open narrowcasting radio broadcasting service and changes to the technical specifications of the services as set out below:

The technical specifications set out in Schedule One and Attachment 3.22 of the licence area plan are deleted.

The varied technical specification applicable to this service is set out at Schedule 1 and Attachment 3.22.1 of this instrument.

SCHEDULE

The Schedule sets out:

• the category of each of the services that are to be available in that area (column one),
• the service licence number which has been allocated to the service, if appropriate (column two);  N/A = Not Applicable, as the Broadcasting Services Act 1992 only requires service licences for Commercial and Community services.
• the number of transmitters required to transmit the service,
• the transmitter specification number which has been allocated to each transmitter (column three),
• the identifying number of the attachment where the technical specifications for each transmitter are described (column four).  (Each set of technical specifications referred to in the Schedules is an attachment to this determination).
• the general area served by each transmitter (column five).

Alternative : alternative channel proposed for licensed service

Reserved         : capacity reserved for a national or community service in accordance with Ministerial notification

For ease of reference, the schedules affected by this variation to the lap have been updated to reflect the variation to the plan.

Special Conditions :-

1. The coverage area of this transmission is described as that area within a radius of 20 kilometres measured from a point with the following AMG co-ordinates : Zone: 55; Easting: 480735; Northing: 7869649. This point is not the same as the transmitter location.

2.    This transmission is permitted within the defined coverage area. The transmitter may be established at an alternative site to the nominal site only within this area. A change in site from the nominal site is to be in accordance with the Change of Transmitter Site Procedure of the ABA’s Technical Planning Guidelines, and is not to result in a maximum field strength beyond the defined area in excess of that which would have been provided at the specified power and pattern from the nominal site.
