KAKADU NATIONAL PARK
PROHIBITION ON THE USE OF ROADS AND CERTAIN ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE PARK (MAGUK)
I, Jody Swirepik, acting Director of National Parks, acting pursuant to the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Regulations 2000 (Regulations) having taken into account and being satisfied that prohibiting access to and activities in certain areas in the Kakadu National Park (Park) is necessary for Aboriginal cultural purposes PROHIBIT pursuant to subregulations 12.23A(3), 12.42(1) and 12.55(4) of the Regulations, all persons, at all times this prohibition is in effect:
- engaging in any activities in the area of Maguk (including the campground and gorge); and
b. using the following roads and tracks for all vehicles, walking and riding:
- from the intersection of Maguk Road and Kakadu Highway.
Note: Certain classes of person will be exempt from this prohibition by operation of subregulations 12.06(1) and 12.23(2) of the Regulations.
This prohibition commences on the date and at the time on which this prohibition takes effect pursuant to law and ends at 11:59PM CEST on 20 October 2021.
