INVITATION TO MAKE A SUBMISSION ON THE REVIEW OF THE BASIN PLAN

Section 51 of the Water Act 2007 (Cth)

The Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is conducting a review of the Basin Plan 2012 (the Basin Plan) and invites submissions from members of the public. 

Submissions may be made during the 12-week consultation period running from 5 February 2026 until 5pm AEST on 1 May 2026. Submissions must be received by 5pm AEST, 1 May 2026.

Submissions can be made online (preferred), sent by email or by post.

Where submissions are lodged by email or by post, make sure to download, complete and attach a submission template which is available at www.getinvolved.mdba.gov.au/2026basinplanreview.

Supporting information

The MDBA has prepared a Discussion Paper that sets out the issues to be addressed in the review, outlining water management issues and opportunities relevant to the Murray–Darling Basin.

Submissions may be provided on any matters related to the review, and feedback is sought on the issues and options addressed in the Discussion Paper. The Discussion Paper and supporting material: www.getinvolved.mdba.gov.au/2026basinplanreview.

Publication

Submissions, including personal information, received by the MDBA will be published on the MDBA’s website unless you request that your submission (or a particular part of your submission) is treated confidentially.
