INVITATION TO COMMENT ON DRAFT MANAGEMENT PLANS
CHRISTMAS ISLAND MARINE PARK AND COCOS (KEELING) ISLANDS MARINE PARK
Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act)
Notice under section 368(5)
The Director of National Parks (Director) has prepared draft management plans for Christmas Island Marine Park and Cocos (Keeling) Islands Marine Park. Once finalised, these plans will guide management of the parks for 10 years. Members of the public are invited to comment on one or both of these draft management plans.
Your comments should clearly identify the marine park which is the subject of the comments and which part(s) of the draft plan(s) they relate to. If comments are intended to apply to both marine parks, this should be clearly expressed.
Comments will be considered by the Director in accordance with section 368(1)(e) of the EPBC Act and, in accordance with section 370 of the EPBC Act, will be provided to the Minister for the Environment together with:
- The Director’s views on the comments.
- Proposed final management plans for the Minister’s approval, including any revisions in response to comments received.

HOW TO COMMENT
Comments must be submitted no later than 11.30pm AEST (8.30pm Christmas Island time and 8.00pm Cocos (Keeling) Islands time) on 19 September 2024 by one of the following means:

Comments submitted after this time or by other means cannot be considered by the Director under section 368(1)(e) of the EPBC Act.
