NOTICE OF PUBLICATION OF THE OLD PARLIAMENT HOUSE & CURTILAGE

DRAFT REPLACEMENT MANAGEMENT PLAN

(for the conservation of National and Commonwealth Heritage Values)

Public Comment

Old Parliament House and Curtilage was the home of Australia’s Federal Parliament from 1927 until 1988 and was the setting for many major events that have reflected Australian democratic values and demonstrated our parliamentary political process.  The Minister for the Environment and Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister and Cabinet have prepared a draft management plan for 2021-2026 to replace the Old Parliament House and Curtilage Heritage Management Plan 2015-2020, to protect and manage the site’s Commonwealth Heritage and National Heritage values.

Under paragraphs 324S(6)(a) & 341S(6)(b) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, the Minister for the Environment and the Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister and Cabinet invite comments on the draft replacement management plan from members of the public, including Indigenous peoples with rights and interests in the place and the ACT Government.

An electronic copy of the Old Parliament House draft replacement management plan can be accessed via the Museum of Australian Democracy website at moadoph.gov.au.
