   VETERANS’ ENTITLEMENTS ACT 1986

 

 

EXPLANATORY NOTE FOR TABLING

 

1. The Minister has approved the attached instrument pursuant to subsection 29(3) of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986.

 

2. The instrument varies the Guide to the Assessment of Rates of Veterans’ Pensions by rectifying a number of drafting-type errors, introducing more appropriate terminology in some instances and by improving various procedures .

 

3. The more significant variations include:

 

  • ensuring the formula for measuring lung function is correct.
  • ensuring the formula for measuring ‘conductive deafness’ is correct.
  • defining the previously undefined ‘severe post-ejaculatory pain’ for the purpose of measuring loss of male sexual function.
