An Act to amend the Indigenous Education (Targeted Assistance) Act 2000, and for related purposes

The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1  Short title

  This Act may be cited as the Indigenous Education (Targeted Assistance) Amendment Act 2005.

2  Commencement

  This Act commences on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

3  Schedule(s)

  Each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1—Amendments

Indigenous Education (Targeted Assistance) Act 2000

1  Subsection 14A(1) (table item 2)

Omit “$226,896,000”, substitute “$225,670,000”.

2  Subsection 14A(1) (table item 3)

Omit “$227,769,000”, substitute “$226,543,000”.

3  Subsection 14A(1) (table item 4)

Omit “$226,596,000”, substitute “$225,370,000”.

4  After section 10

Insert:

10A  Condition of grant—skilling Indigenous Australians

Where appropriations are expended in accordance with this Act to provide targeted financial assistance to advance the education of Indigenous persons, the appropriation must be expended in a manner which advances the objectives set out in sections 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 of the Indigenous Education (Targeted Assistance) Act 2000.
