REGULATIONS UNDER THE HIGH COMMISSIONER (UNITED KINGDOM) ACT 1909-1966.*
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the High Commissioner (United Kingdom) Act 1909-1966.

Amendments of the High Commissioner (Staff) Regulations†
Interpretation.
1. Regulation 4 of the High Commissioner (Staff) Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (2.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—
“(2.) A reference in a regulation, other than regulation 4a, of these Regulations, or in a Schedule to these Regulations, to an amount of money shall be read as a reference to that amount of money in sterling.”.
Deputy High Commissioners.
2.—(1.) Regulation 4a of the High Commissioner (Staff) Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (5.) the words “Eleven thousand seven hundred and twenty-eight dollars” and inserting in their stead the words “Thirteen thousand eight hundred and thirty-eight dollars”.
(2.) The rate of salary specified in sub-regulation (5.) of regulation 4a of the High Commissioner (Staff) Regulations as amended by the last preceding sub-regulation applies in relation to service by a Deputy High Commissioner, other than a Deputy High Commissioner to whom sub-regulation (4.) of that regulation applies, on or after the twenty-fifth day of September, 1969.
Fourth Schedule.
3. The Fourth Schedule to the High Commissioner (Staff) Regulations is repealed and the Schedule set out in the Schedule to these Regulations is inserted in its stead.
Supplementary allowance in respect of a period on or after 1 July, 1969, and before the commencement of these Regulations.
4. Where, during any period that commenced on or after the first day of July, 1969, and ended before the commencement of these Regulations, an officer or employee occupied or performed the duties of an office set out in column 1 of the Fourth Schedule to the High Commissioner (Staff) Regulations, as in force at the commencement of these Regulations, the officer or employee shall, by force of this regulation, be paid an allowance of such an amount as would result in the total remuneration of the officer or employee in respect of that period being not less than the total remuneration that would have been payable to the officer or employee in respect of that period if, during that period—

(a) the classification of that office had been a rate or a scale of rates equal to the rate or the scale of rates, as the case may be, specified in column 2 of the Fourth Schedule to the High Commissioner (Staff) Regulations, as in force at the commencement of these Regulations, opposite to that office in column 1; and
(b) that rate or that scale of rates had been specified in column 2 of the Fourth Schedule to the High Commissioner (Staff) Regulations opposite to that office in column 1.
