1                      Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to temporarily amend certain Queensland Police escort requirements contained in the Guideline for Excess Dimension - Vehicles Carrying Indivisible Articles, Special Purpose Vehicles, Vehicles that require a Pilot or Escort in Queensland, Form 4, Version 8 February 2013.

Note- The amendments in this Notice remove certain police escort requirements for the duration of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, and replace the police escort requirement with Level 1 pilots or Level 2 escorts appropriate for the circumstances.

2                      Authorising Provision

This Notice is made under Section 23 of Schedule 1 of the Heavy Vehicle National Law.

3                      Commencement

This Notice commences on the date of publication.

4                      Expiry

This Notice expires on 27 April 2018.

5                      Definitions

In this Notice—

primary notice means the Guideline for Excess Dimension - Vehicles Carrying Indivisible Articles, Special Purpose Vehicles, Vehicles that require a Pilot or Escort in Queensland, Form 4, Version 8 February 2013.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

6                      Amendment of primary Notice

(1)         The primary notice is amended as follows—

In Part 13, insert

13.I Commonwealth Games Special Pilot and Escort Vehicle Requirements

Pilot and escort requirements for OSOM movements up to 5.5m in width and 35m in length are varied as shown in Table 1:

Circumstances

Normal Pilot & Escort Requirements

Special Pilot Requirements for the Duration of the Commonwealth Games

Single loads only

AND

for same direction of travel

AND

no Traffic Control Required

single Police Escort

+ two Level 2 Escorts

Two Level 1 Pilots/ Level 2 Escorts

+ two Level 2 Escorts

(Additional pilot and/or escort vehicles will take the position/s normally occupied by police vehicles as per Form 4 Guideline)

Single loads only

AND

for same direction of travel

AND

Traffic Control Required

single Police Escort

+ two Level 2 Escorts

Four Level 2 Escorts

(Additional pilot and/or escort vehicles will take the position/s normally occupied by police vehicles as per Form 4 Guideline)

Wide loads travelling in convoy

All wide load movements involving contra-traffic flows, reverse direction of travel, traffic control and other manoeuvres contrary to the Qld Road Rules.

NORMAL PILOT AND ESCORT REQUIREMENTS APPLY

 

Note:- The amended pilot and escort requirements in Table 1 are intended to remove certain police escort requirements for the duration of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, and replace the police escort requirement with a Level 1 pilots or Level 2 escorts appropriate for the circumstances.
