Queensland Agricultural Machines and Cane Bins Flotation Tyres Mass Exemption Notice 2017 (No. 1)

Class 1/3 Heavy Vehicle Exemption Notice - Mass Exemption

 

  1. Purpose

The purpose of this notice is to allow agricultural machines and cane bin trailers fitted with flotation tyres to operate on roads in certain circumstances and within certain parameters.

2.       Authorising Provision

This notice is made under section 117 of the Heavy Vehicle National Law.

3.       Commencement

This notice commences on 1 July 2017.

4.       Expiry

This notice expires on 30 June 2022.

5.       Title

This notice may be cited as the Queensland Agricultural Machines and Cane Bins Flotation Tyres Mass Exemption Notice 2017.

6.       Definitions

Unless otherwise stated, words and expressions used in this Notice have the same meanings as those defined in the National Heavy Vehicle Law.

7.       Application

1)      This Notice applies to eligible vehicles in Queensland.

2)      This notice applies to agricultural machines and cane bin trailers while used for agricultural purposes.

8.       Exemption

A vehicle operating under this notice is exempt from certain limits set out in Table 1 of Schedule 1 Part 2 of the Heavy Vehicle National (Mass Dimension and Loading) National Regulation.

 

9.       Conditions

1)      While operating under this notice the following mass limits must not be exceeded:

a)      11t for a single axle group; or

b)      20t for a tandem axle group; or

c)      28t for a triaxle group.

2)      In addition to the mass limits set out in clause 9.1 above, the vehicle must not exceed the manufacturer’s specified gross trailer mass.

3)      Vehicles operating under this notice with axle groups with a gross trailer mass of 20t or greater or a speed capability greater than 50kph must be fitted with dampened load sharing suspension and air brakes.

4)      Tyre loads must comply with either the limits listed in the following table, or the loads listed in Appendix 1 of this Notice:

5)      A copy of this Notice must be carried in any vehicle operating under the provisions of this Notice.
