Schedule 1A of the Health Insurance Act 1973 (the Act) contains a pathology services table providing a schedule of fees for pathology services, which came into operation on 1 August 1989.
Section 4A of the Act provides for the variation or amendment of the pathology services table by way of Regulations.
On 31 July 1989 the Health Insurance (Variation of Pathology Services Table) Regulations, (the Principal Regulations), were made to correct a number of minor errors in the pathology services table.
The regulations amend the Principal Regulations, making further changes to the pathology services table by replacing some twenty eight items in the table with new items and replacing the list of abbreviations with a new list of abbreviations. The changes are of a relatively minor nature, and do not affect fees or fee coning rules.
The Regulations are effective from 1 May 1990.
